Overview
What we are studying
The Endocrine Unit of MGH is looking for adult men and women for a research study on the effects of weight on bone health. The study involves one outpatient research visit. Participants will receive bone density measurements. Other study procedures include a blood draw and nutritional assessment. There is no cost for participation in the study, and participants will receive $75 compensation. Parking costs will be reimbursed. Who can participate
Adult men and women who received gastric banding at least 10 years ago and adult men and women who have not had bariatric surgery.
Healthy Volunteers
Healthy volunteers are eligible for this study
Healthy (non-surgical) volunteers will be age, weight, and sex matched to bariatric subjects.
Who cannot participate
What you may be asked to do
Participants will receive bone density measurements.
Other study procedures include a blood draw and nutritional assessment.
