What we are studying

The purpose of this study is to see if taking morphine together with another medication called duloxetine (a.k.a. Cymbalta), can help reduce chronic pain and prevent the development of a condition called opioid-induced hyperalgesia (OIH). Morphine is an opioid, which is a type of medication that is used to relieve pain. Some chronic pain patients who are treated with opioids can feel more sensitive to pain over time. This is called OIH.
