MR-PET Brain Imaging Study for Individuals with Movement and Compulsive Disorders

The Massachusetts General Hospital is conducting a study investigating the structure and function of the brain of adults with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and Tourette Syndrome using MR-PET scans.

What we are studying

The Massachusetts General Hospital is conducting a study investigating the structure and function of the brain of adults with movement and compulsive disorders using MR-PET scans. Patients must be between the ages 18 and 40, with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder or Tourette Syndrome. The study includes one screening visit and one scanning visits at the Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging.


Why it is important

To determine the relationship compulsive or movement disorders and neuroinflammation in the brain.

Patients must be between the ages 18 and 40, diagnosed with either Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder or Tourette Syndrome and healthy controls.


Healthy Volunteers

Healthy volunteers are eligible for this study

Healthy volunteers must be between the ages of 18-40 years old.

The study includes participation in one screening visit and one scanning visit at the Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging.


Project activities may include:

  • Survey
  • Office visit
  • Blood draw
  • Injection or IV
  • MRI scan
  • PET scan

Estimated Time Commitment

6 hours over 2 sessions


Participants will receive $200 for their time and parking validation.
