What you may be asked to do
If you decide to join this research study, the following things will happen: At each overnight study visit, we will place standard sensors on you to measure your sleep and breathing. At different times, we will ask you to take one of four different drug combinations (“treatments”) before your study visits. One of these treatments is a placebo (a pill that contains no active ingredients). Over the course of the study, we will ask you to take all four of these different treatments. The order that you will take these treatments is decided by chance. Neither you nor the investigators will know this order during the study. On treatment nights, once all of the sensors have been placed on you, you will be given the study medication to take (30 min before lights out).
Project activities may include:
- Overnight stay
- Survey
- Medication
- Office visit
Estimated Time Commitment
60 hours over 6 visits
What You May Get
You will receive $75/overnight for participation plus $75 for completion of each treatment period (5 overnights = $375, 4×$75 for period completion, subtotal = $675). You will receive an additional $200 for successful completion of the entire protocol (total $875). For any inpatient visits requiring a COVID-19 test prior to admission, you will receive an additional $50 for each test.
