MR-PET Brain Imaging Study for Healthy Individuals

The Massachusetts General Hospital is conducting a study investigating the structure and function of the brain of adults with and without autism spectrum disorders using MR-PET scans.

This project is not recruiting.

Healthy participants, who must be between the ages 18 and 40 and have no serious medical or psychiatric conditions. Female participants must not be pregnant or breastfeeding. Participants must also have no contraindications for MRI and have no history of an autoimmune disorder or pervasive developmental disorder.


Healthy Volunteers

Healthy volunteers are eligible for this study

Healthy participants must be between the ages 18 and 40, and have no serious medical or psychiatric conditions. Female participants must not be pregnant or breastfeeding. Participants must also have no contraindications for MRI and have no history of an autoimmune disorder or pervasive developmental disorder.

The study includes one screening visit at the MGH Lurie Center, one training visit, and 2 scanning visits at the MGH Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging.


Project activities may include:

  • Survey
  • Blood draw
  • Injection or IV
  • MRI scan
  • PET scan

Estimated Time Commitment

8 hours over 3 visits


Eligible participants will be compensated up to $350 for their time.
